ABOUT TURKISH BOZ REGISTRY (TBR)
What is Turkish Boz Registry (TBR)?
Turkish Boz Registry (TBR) is a U.S.-based registry dedicated exclusively to the documentation, preservation, and verification of authentic Turkish Boz Shepherd Dogs. TBR exists to establish consistent standards, transparent pedigrees, and verifiable records for the Boz breed in North America.
TBR focuses on phenotype conformity, lineage documentation, DNA testing, and ethical registry practices.
Is TBR a breed club or a registry?
TBR is a registry, not a breed club. TBR’s purpose is to maintain accurate records and provide verification services. TBR does not promote, sell, or broker dogs.
Does TBR register other Turkish breeds?
No. TBR registers only Turkish Boz Shepherd Dogs.
Is TBR affiliated with WAD?
TBR operates independently but respects and recognizes WAD documentation and Turkish-based pedigree systems. TBR may assist with WAD pedigree coordination when applicable.

What is TBR dog registration?
Registration is the process of documenting an individual dog within the TBR database and issuing an official registry record and pedigree when eligible.
Who can apply for registration?
• Owners of Turkish Boz Shepherd Dogs
• Import owners
• Owners of dogs from WAD breeders
• U.S.-born dogs with verifiable parents
All dogs must meet TBR requirements.
Does WAD paperwork automatically grant TBR registration?
No. All dogs must still complete the TBR registration process.

Are puppies eligible for registration?
Yes. Puppies may be preliminarily registered and upgraded to full registration once age and testing requirements are met.
DNA TESTING & PARENTAGE
Is DNA testing required?
Yes. DNA testing is mandatory for all registered dogs.
What DNA testing is required?
• DNA profile (identity and breed analysis)
• Parentage verification when parents are known
Which DNA laboratory is accepted?
TBR currently utilizes Embark as its reference DNA laboratory.
Can I use my own DNA kit?
No. DNA and parentage collection kits must be purchased through TBR to maintain tracking, chain-of-custody, and verification integrity.
PHENOTYPE EVALUATION
What is a phenotype evaluation?
A phenotype evaluation assesses physical structure, size, bone, head type, movement, and overall conformity to Turkish Boz Shepherd Dog standards.
Who performs evaluations?
Evaluations are completed through TBR-approved reviewers using submitted photos and videos or in-person evaluation when applicable.
Can a dog fail phenotype?
Yes. Dogs that do not meet core Boz phenotype standards may be denied breeding status/WAD pedigree regardless of DNA results.
MICROCHIPPING
Is microchipping required?
Yes. All registered dogs must have a permanent microchip.
Can I use my own microchip?
Yes. Microchips can be administered through your home vet or by purchasing one through the website.
MEMBERSHIP
What is TBR membership?
Membership places individuals into the TBR member database for registry updates, announcements, and general communications.
Is membership required to register a dog?
No. Membership is optional.
Is membership a one-time fee?
Yes. Membership is a one-time fee.
