Only breeders listed here are considered active participants in the registry and operating within TBR standards and guidelines.

TIER 1 – PRESERVATION BREEDER
Established preservation breeders maintaining multi-generation, verifiable lines and actively contributing to long-term preservation of the Turkish Boz Shepherd.
Tier 1 breeders typically:
Maintain multi-generation registered pedigrees
Utilize imported Turkish bloodlines
Produce verifiable, registered litters
Demonstrate working stock
Conduct parentage DNA verification
Utilize health testing appropriate for working guardians (hips, elbows, etc.)
Maintain detailed records
Pricing from Tier 1 breeders often reflects:
Cost of imports
Long-term genetic investment
Testing and verification
Limited, intentional production
Higher pricing does not guarantee quality, but preservation-level programs require significant investment.
TIER 2 – DEVELOPING BREEDER
Breeders building toward preservation status and expanding their programs.
Tier 2 breeders typically:
Own registered breeding dogs
May have limited multi-generation pedigrees
Participate in DNA verification and pedigree systems
May be incorporating imported lineage
Follow TBR breeding standards
Pricing from Tier 2 breeders may vary depending on level of testing and documentation.
TIER 3 – AFFILIATE BREEDER
New or limited breeders establishing registered lines under TBR guidelines.
Tier 3 breeders typically:
Own registered dogs or dogs in process
Are building documentation and pedigrees
May not yet have imported lineage
Participate in verification programs
Agree to follow TBR ethics and standards
Pricing at this level is generally more variable.
WHY BREEDER TIERS EXIST
Breeders are at different stages of development.
Tiering allows TBR to:
Maintain accurate records
Provide transparency
Apply appropriate oversight
Encourage advancement
Protect registry integrity
Tier status may change as programs develop.
Affiliate level reflects experience, compliance, and contribution to preservation.
